The ‘Stache Gets Some Love on ESPN

Yesterday we reported on Clay Zavada’s glorious lip-sweater that should serve as an inspiration to a certain clean-shaven third baseman in Queens. Apparently ESPN took notice too, as they interviewed Friend O’ The Stache and Chairman of the American Mustache Institute Dr. Aaron Perlut about Zavada’s stache and the role of the cookie-duster in baseball, past and present. Dr. Perlut throws around some fantastic ’stache lingo (“flavor-saving instrument of justice” [!]) and even provides a statistical analysis of Rick Ankiel’s stache experiment of which The Wright Stache Statistics Department (TWSSD for short) highly approves. Watch the whole interview clip from ESPN below.

AMI Mustache Poll

I have no caption that is more amazing than this photo.

I have no caption that is more amazing than this photo.

Fantastic friends o’ the stache The American Mustache Institute are currently running a poll to see “how a mustache influences perceptions of a man.” The poll focuses on both attractiveness and professionalism and how mustaches affect both factors.

Currently, the response that mustaches make men “appear more more attractive and professional” is, obviously, leading the pack.  But we need to make it a decisive victory.  We need this to serve as further proof for David that he needs a stache.

So, make your way over to the AMI poll and vote with your hearts (and your upper lips).  Remember, men died for so we could have these freedoms.

Keith Hernandez: Top Sports Mustache of All-Time

Friend of The Wright Stache Joe L. emailed me today with an amazing discovery.  It turns out that Keith Hernandez is the owner of the Top Sports Mustache of All-Time.

Back in 2007, the great men who run the American Mustache Institute (AMI) opened the polls and asked the public to vote for the greatest mustache in sports history.  Keith beat out such luminaries as Hulk Hogan and Dale Earnhardt.

Above you can watch the official video released by the AMI congratulating Keith on his victory.  And you can also read our words of praise for Keith, our patron saint.

Once again, the Mets have proven themselves to be stache savvy, stache supportive and stache superlative.

A belated congratulations, Keith.  David could learn from no one finer than you!
